So.....the last time I posted it was suppose to be a short hiatus but instead RL interfered. I apologize to you all for the prolong absense without much of a explanation beyond my needing to care for my ailing mother.

Late in the evening of this Mother's Day, Mama passed away ever so gently and softly. Since her passing it has been a time of settling affairs and mourning. Honestly I didn't even turn on my computers for months. I quit chatting with the bitches like I use to do every day. It was a effort to just get up ~~each day~~ in the morning. I will say though that I often thought of my lovely flist, my beloved bitches, the fandom, wondered and hoped that life was being good to you all.

So...what knocked me out of hiding. Last Monday I received a letter (real mail!!!)from Sweden. zaipixie wrote to me on behalf of herself, firehead30 and vl_redreign. It was lovely and touching and I couldn't get online fast enough to drop them a line and it was like old times. We exchanged emails all day and it was just the jump start that I needed I guess. And then today I received a lovely card from happier_bunny. I don't know. It just made me want to post and say hi and reconnect with you all, reconnect with the fandom. Reconnect with the fun and the joy that I would always feel when I would log in as either callie89 or at the bitchesofbritin journal. Cause frankly it's exhausting being sad all the time. It's not really my nature. I've lost family before, my brother Carrington and then my father both of whom I adored. But losing my mother, I wasn't ready for it or the aftermath. Going through her affairs and the estate, it really brought home the fact that I'm a orphan now. No one left of my people.

But I am doing much better now. Cillian is great. He and I are very solid and happy. And no we are not pregnant yet. Maybe next summer we will try. Professionally he is doing great. Myself I returned to work last month, part time only and still in the ER. We have settled in the Brick House (that's what we called the family home) for now. At some point I believe we will relocate possibly to the East Coast. Seems to be where Cil is leaning towards. Time will tell.

Okay...enough. I don't want to put you all to sleep here. Just wanted to say hello and look forward to bonding with you all again. I am tickled that so many of you did not give up on me and defriend me. That many of you left me little notes wishing me well. That means so much to me.

A short but Necessary Hiatus

My lovely and wonderful flist,

I need to take a short hiatus from live journal. I'm sure a few have already noticed that I haven't been online much at all in recent weeks. My beloved Mama suffered a mild stroke. (She came home from hospital this evening so this holiday week end is especially a joyous one for us.) Cillian and I have made the decision that in order to give her the best care we can, I need to take a short LOA from my job as well. She is going to recover from this I am sure.

Once I have a routine down with her, then I'm hopeful to be able to make time for the fandom which I love so dearly. I'm looking to be back on and off within a week.

I am going to disable comments for this post. I hope you understand why. It's just that I'm so behind from my previous post which I haven't responded yet plus I just need to catch my breath here. I'm am fine. I want everyone to know that. I'm also NOT going anywhere. It's just that it's my turn to take care of a woman who has all of my life taken such sweet and loving care of me.

So take care of each other. Please don't give up on me or defriend me. I'll be back with lots of pretty picspams I promise. Plus bitchesofbritin have lots of ideas and plans to do our part to help make our fandom the fun and stimulating place it is once I come back.

1. Mr. Darcy. Pride and Prejudice.
I named him in the last meme that I did. My first and most enduring love for this fictional literary character has never wained.

2. Westley The Princess Bride.
Who can resist him and his "As you wish" comment. Cillian who is well aware of my love for this flick teases me often with that tag line. It is all the more delightful cause of his Irish accent.

3. Simon Templar The Saint
Okay...I know that he is a thief and a liar....but all relationships have their challenges. Besides if he looks like and moves like Val Kilmer did in the movie version, I do believe I can work with it.

4. Colonel Christopher Brandon Sense and Sensibility
Now I liked Edward Ferrars but I adored the Colonel. "Give me a occupation Miss Dashwood or I shall run mad." Oh...yeah!..not a problem. I'll keep you busy.

5. JD Heathers.
I was utterly fascinated by this character and Christian Slater portrayal of him. Still...while he reminds me of a smooth liquor he will end up burning you like a chip out of Vesuvius.

6. Bruce Wayne/Batman Comic book hero
What list would be complete without a super hero? And I like Batman cause of all the super heroes, "he really did have the most delightful toys" to play with. I'll happily play Batgirl to his Batman.

7. Mr. Big Sex in the City
Both firehead30 and I are huge fans of this show but she never really warmed to him. She preferred Aiden. Pfft, but that's okay cause I'll take him off her hands. The guy owned me when he answered Carrie's question "Have you ever been in love?" with "absofuckinglutely".

8. Paul"Fred" Varjak Breakfast at Tiffany's
Loved the movie, loved easy, laid back, thoughtful, lovestruck Paul.

9. Edward Rochester Jane Eyre
He is my second favorite literary character. I was just captivated by his wounded heart. Betrayed by his father when he was a idealistic young man, Edward finds solace through self-indulgence and debauchery. It is through his relationship with Jane, that he seeks and finds redemption. Which neatly leads me to my final pick cause he reminds me a lot like Edward Rochester.

10. Brian Kinney Queer as Folk
You know one of the biggest lies that Cowlip ever said about the Brian/Justin relationship was that they weren't writing a romance. Pfft...In my mind, Brian Kinney is the quissential romantic hero. He is a loner, damaged and wary of people, cynical and melancholy. He is outside the circle, an outcast who is introspective and flawed. He was alienated and often isolated yet had his own (and quite strong) sense of morality and ethics that was outside the conventional. He is a hero whose heroism is not involved in upholding the social order, but operating outside of it and sometimes in contradiction to it. In five seasons, I have seen Brian Kinney at his best and at his worst. It is easy to see his flaws; to see his "badness". It is especially easy to see because, as portrayed by Gale Harold (with the most beautiful and expressive eyes) he wanted us to see those things. To see his anger, bitterness, misanthropy, and outrageousness. But like the proverbial onion, as you peel away one layer, another appears and it is to catch a glimpse of those reveals that was a huge part of why he is so addictive. For all of his brashness, boldness, sarcasm, witty retorts, and funny lines, without those layers being shared with us, Brian would be a jerk. But he wasn't, instead he was compelling. Compelling enough for me to root for him, to cry for him, to laugh at him/with him and to embrace his non-defined, non-conventional relationship with Justin.

So yeah...gay or not, I'd have sex with him and ...often if he wished.

First....let me say thank you to all the lovely valentine wishes that I received from severina2001 Valentine Fandom Post. I truly was touched. I also wish to thank firehead30, dopplganger44, and galesweetie each for the virtual gift they sent me. I get such a kick out of receiving those. and happier_bunny for the ecard she sent me. I adored it. I hope that everyone on my flist had a Happy Valentine day spent with the people they care about.

The second thing is just a shout out pimp for the bitchesofbritin newest picspam post. It's all about emotions. We had hoped to have it up and posted in celebration of Valentine's Day but ~~Callie was just too fucking slow~~ we just couldn't get it done in time. But it is up now. My final piece of news is I will not be online very much if at all for the next week. Cillian and I are leaving today (Sunday) for holiday in Mexico. I will be back next week Friday. While I plan on bringing my lappie, I'm not sure just how much internet time I will have. I fully intend to enjoy the warm weather, the sand, the sights and Cillian. I hope to come back refreshed and rested. It has been a long cold winter and we still have a ways to go before spring arrives.

I am truly touched by the lovely comments and sentiments that so many on my flist left me in response to my last post. I promise to answer each and everyone in the next day or so. On top of everything else that is going on in my life, I've been struggling for days now with the flu. I am hopeful that I will be better in the next day or so. It is just one stubborn strain.

I know the bitches are most anxious for us to do another picspam and I have a couple posts planned for qaf_repixed. Lots of stuff in the works. With V day fast upon us, zaipixie, firehead30, vl_redreign and myself have a few ideas as to how to celebrate it Queer as Folk style.

And as for the final part of our WIP Brian Kinney EYE CANDY WITH A SOUL S5, that is also being worked on. Please don't think badly of the other bitches. It isn't their fault. The fault is mine.

Beyond that I miss not playing like I'm use to. I hope that will change soon.

Again thank you to one and all in the fandom. This special little land in cyberspace is my home away from home. It really is a magical kingdom filled with sprites and fairies.

Today is a anniversary of sorts, but not a happy one, the date of my brother's death. It's hard to believe that he has been gone for over six years now. His name was Carrington and he was thirteen years older than me. At the time of his death he was only 39 years old, way to young to die. Cary was tall, model handsome, gracious, and extremely funny. Trust me, no one could beat his wit. He was I guess what you call a health nut who took great pains to be active. He was a vegetarian and though he enjoyed the occasional wine, never smoked. So it was a hugh shock to our parents and myself to say the least when he was diagnose with lung cancer. Within two years of learning of his illness, he was gone. He went to University of MN and his major was art. He was a tremendous artist. Often he tapped me to be a model for his sketches. I remember one in particular when I was about 6 or 7 and he had my mama put my long blonde hair in curlers for a sketch. Gee, just how every girl wants to be immortalized......... in those old fashion rollers with the pink pick. Not attractive. But ultimately he would turn his attention to other interests. He had a passion for business and excelled at that. The last six years of his life emotionally he probably was the happiest he'd ever been. He was in a committed relationship with his partner Stephen and they were living in his favorite city San Francisco. It goes without saying that I think that it wasn't fair that my brother didn't get to live longer, but the time he had he never seem to waste. He was always off somewhere trying something new, testing himself. He took up hang gliding and hot air ballooning, and loved rock climbing. He was for sure the best cook in our family and that's saying something as we all loved to try to outdo each other. He loved the arts, music, and books. During part of his twenties he lived in Manhattan where he made a point to go to a play every week. He spent the past dozen years up to his death in San Francisco, no hardship visiting him there. Although since his death, it's hard to visit my favorite city. Hard cause he isn't there. He isn't there to take me to a new resturant he discovered or an art gallery or to one our old haunts.

One of the last visits I had with my brother, he gave me the most amazing gift. First I think that giving is a form of dialogue and at its most refined of telepathy. The most memorable gifts seem to answer a question, settle a doubt, or anticipate a want the recipient perhaps hasn't yet thought of or been able to express. It's also a little mirror in which we see ourselves through the eyes of the giver. I say this because during the time of my brother's illness was to say the least a very melancholy time for me. I was alternately filled with hope that he would beat this illness and then I would give into despair. My brother who was a world traveler went to visit Bali the summer before his death. After his trip he had come to visit me. It was then that he gave me a beautifully wrapped package. Inside was the most amazing shawl, embroidered gold thread on gold silk. On the card he had simply written, "this looks like you, this feels like you." His perception was as touching and as precious as the shawl itself and every time I wear it, I recover my original emotion......the surprise grace of his recognition.

It was good that he was the oldest. He handle the expectations of my parents well. I remember when I was a little girl and I would ask the most dreaded question that a child could ask a parent, "Mama, which of us do you love more?" My mama handled that question very well. She told me that it wasn't a question of loving either one of us more, but rather differently. In regards to my brother Cary, she would tell me that she loved him the longest because he was her firstborn. It wasn't a question of more, just longer. I remember being satisfied by her wisdom. The loss of my brother and the acceptance of that has been a challenge for her. No mother is suppose to bury her child.

Loss....... at times I think that there can't possibly be a more frightening word. Yet if we are alive, we cannot escape it. It is a part of real life. Writing this, I'm reminded of a story that I once read. It is a story of a woman who lost her only child and was bereft, inconsolable, and alone. She went to the Buddha to ask his help in healing her wounded spirit. If he couldn't, she would follow her child to the grave and forgo her destiny. Karma be damned. She would not, could not continue to live this way. The Buddha agreed to help but told the mother she must first bring him back a poppy seed from a house that had never known sorrow. And so the woman set out to find one. Her search took her a long time. She went from house to house all over the world but there was not one that had never not known grief. However, because every house knew what her pain felt like, they wanted to give her a gift to help ease her anguish. It could not make it go away, but it might help. When the woman returned home she opened her heart and showed the Buddha what she had been given, acceptance, forbearance, understanding, gratitude, courage, compassion, hope, truth, empathy, remembrance, strength, tenderness, wisdom, and finally love. "These gifts were given to help me," she told the Buddha. "Ah, they were? And how do you feel now?" he asked the woman. "Different. Heavier. Each gift comforts me in its own way, there were so many I had to open my heart to carry them all and they make me feel sated. What is this strange feeling". The Buddha replied, "It is called sorrow. And now you know that you are no longer alone."

I miss you Cary. I will always miss you. But I've kept the promise I made to you.

It's Celebration Time........Emmett Honeycutt

Well everyone....the party has started and you are ALL invited. All day today and through the week end, The bitchesofbritin are putting out a call to you, yes, YOU, to join us in a fandom-wide celebration to celebrate and to appreciate Emmett Honeycutt. To me he often had the best lines, some rather outrageous outfits, and the best sense of self. There was no room in his life for self hate. He embraced life. As rebeccama wrote Emmett is someone who tends to enjoy emotions both good and bad and to show that enjoyment.

Hello Hello Lovely Flist,

I hope life is treating you good. I'm doing well. Work has been busy but good. Over at the bitchesofbritin we posted earlier in the week a picspam. This time celebrating the friendship of Brian and Michael. Check it out if you wish. Everyone is welcome and we really had fun with it. We are hard at work on several projects for that journal. The final installement of our WIP of Brian Kinney...Eye Candy with a Soul hopefully will be done soon. And we have another very special picspam that the bitches have been hard at work on ready to be posted in the next couple days..hopefully. In the final stages of that one. All of us are really excited about it.

And I know I maybe a bit late here but last week over at bj_actioninsane a new theme had been posted. It was all about Justin being fucked with something large. Very very large. I've three so far of the six that were submitted and enjoyed them so much. I can't wait to read the other three later tonight hopefully. 1)zaipixie told me to mention that I have a really great lineage. And I quote "Come on! You can't get any more Swedish without living here!" This is true. My parents both came here from Sweden although they did not meet until they were both living here in the states. And Cillian comes from Ireland. He came here with the intention of just completing his fellowship and then going back home to Europe. But after we met and fell in love, he had a change in plans. Lucky Me.

2) I do graveyard shift as a ER nurse so I really have become a night owl. Going to bed before 3 or 4 A.M. on my days off seems strange.

3) I don't like to read fanfiction off of the computer. I prefer to print it off and read it that way.

4) I played Sandy in my high school production of Grease. I also performed the "dream Laurie" in Oklahoma.

5) My first job was as a lifeguard.

Pimping to be done and a short picspam to share

Hello flist,

How is everyone? I sure hope you all had a happy holiday. Mine was wonderful and even though I had to work, I still able to spend time with my mother and Cillian. And Santa was so good to me. Got so many lovely things.

Pimping....So people. Have you all been able to check out qaf_giftxchnge? Such pretty graphics, wonderful and enchanting fiction to read, and VIDS!! Fantastic vids to watch. So if you haven't visited it yet, then what are you waiting for? FYI...Oh....if you aren't a member of the community, you have to join first, but in order to be approved, your date of birth is required to be visible on your userpage.

While I have been busy, I have manage to work on a short picspam. It comes from 314. Brian on the verge of a panic attack about his "possession withdrawal" is classic funny. I love how Brian looks for and gets much needed reassurance from Justin that he did the right thing. I loved Justin's pride over Brian doing the right thing and his acceptance of him, with or without the italian furniture and $5,000 TV. This whole arc is even more ahhhmazing and wonderful because we all believe it.

A Long over due post

Well hello my friends.

It has been forever since I've posted. Just been busy with RL. Still I do try to stay in touch with the fandom and my flist. My passion is just as strong and still endures for Queer as Folk and everything related to the fandom. These past few months have put a bit of a crimper on my online time.

One of my biggest frustrations was with my desktop computer. I was having major issues with it. Red x's were showing up instead of images, it was slowing down despite my fast internet connection, and I was getting tons of errors and freezes. While I have a lappie, alot of my preferred programs aren't uploaded on it such as photoshop. A couple weeks ago I took it in to have it looked at diagnostically. Come to learn, I had tons of mal-ware infections, spyware,and viruses despite believing that I was protected from it. While it cost me a small fortune, I was able to get my computer repaired, had a completely different anti-virus program installed as well as a spy sweeper program. It's running like a top. Once I got that fixed I was once again able to play in photoshop and work on projects without fear of errors. So just in case you missed it, bitchesofbritin were finally able to post S4 of our WIP of Brian Kinney....Eye Candy with a Soul. You can find it
here if you just click. Once the holidays are over, we will finish up with S5. And just a heads up, the bitches have all kinds of plans for various picspams and picspam themes for the coming year.

First I wish to acknowledge ALL the virtual gifts, e cards and xmas cards that I've been receiving all week long. It is such a lovely treat to read all the kind sentiments and holiday wishes. I truly am so touched. Thank you all!

I have much to be thankful this holiday season. My mama is doing so well. While she misses my papa, she has accepted his passing and I no longer fear her emotional health like I once did. And Coco Channel the pug puppy that I bought for her to help ease her grief is doing great as well. While she is no longer a puppy, she still is a little princess.
Cillian and I are both extremly happy and thankful. Professionally we both are doing great. While our hours are often long and tiring, we both still enjoy what we do. Cillian recently completed his fellowship and now specializes in internal medicine.

So what is left to post? My holiday wish for everyone. When I have some quiet time to think and reflect on my many blessings, surely at the top will be the friendships I have made here in our fandom. I hope you all know how much I appreciate and am honored with the gift of getting to know you. My wish is that you all have a joyous holiday filled with the blessings of family, friends, food, faith, and surround that all with love. Love...which I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. And I hope that the new year not only be filled with happiness but keeps you all safe.

403 picspam....The Bath house scene

I'm taking a break to post. The last week in my spare time I've been working on a layout with zaipixie for one her buddies, plus capping and working on S4 Brian for the Eye Candy with a Soul picspam for the bitchesofbritin journal. While I was capping Season 4, I'm once again reminded how much I love this season. I confess that it wasn't always so. I mean I've always liked it but it is only in the last couple years that I've come to really love and appreciate it. But I will say that there was one scene in this season that I've always loved which was in Episode 403...the bathhouse scene that featured Brian and Jennifer. Visually it's use of color, lighting, and mood was a wonder plus add into that mix the beauty of Brian with his natural grace and elegance, well it makes for a memorable scene. With Brian as our guide, it was a invitation to look for all the hidden meanings and symbolism of this place as he goes from one room to another snapping pictures all the while processing the potential of this place. I loved that Brian was able to take a piece of his past and use it to create his future. Seeing this side of Brian's personality, his creative spirit, it just underscored another reason why he and Justin are so connected to each other. Why they are so right for each other.
So what's a girl to do but a picspam in celebration and appreciation of that scene?

And to continue my lovefest for this scene, I rec a video over at QAF_Repixed that heavily features this scene. It's called Jesus, Etc by the wonderfully talented rhiannonhero. Check the post out and the video. A perfect way to jump start the week end. Just think of the picspam as a appetizer but the video as the main course.

LOL...Someday one of us will have to write a post about the trials and tribulations of four normally easy going women trying to come to an agreement on pics for the season 3 picspam. But we are almost there. So just want to put the word out that over at bitchesofbritin it will be coming in the next day or so, the third part in our WIP picspam EYE CANDY WITH A SOUL. Last night I was weeding through my S3 caps trying to organized for our upcoming Season 3 picspam of Brian and trying to decide if we should include any from the cha cha scene. The main reason against it is that we just recently done a picspam on from that scene which you can find here at BitchesofBritin and another reason is it's a diffcult scene to clean up and make pretty so I was silently debating with myself whether to bother. But the more I was looking at the caps, the more I wondered what it would look like in black and white. So I decided to give it a try.

The end is result is it's even more of dreamy, tender and emotional scene. Brian happiness is so palpable and his hand's!! I've always thought he had the most elegant hands and never more so when he's touching Justin.

So I give you 309 the cha cha scene part deux in black and white. Enjoy

My Ten Happy Things

I decided to do a totally fandom list instead of a general list.

1) Computer.

It makes me happy to be able to have time to sit with my computer and serf the net whether I'm playing on lj or ij. To catch up with my flist or just general fandom news. To be touched by someones words or artistic work.

2) A tale of teh love

What is this you may wonder? It's a small but lovely photo album that happier_bunny made and sent me that is filled with pretty pictures of Brian and Justin. It has a special spot at my computer desk where I can always pick it up and look at it. The pixs are gorgeous and the words are meaningful.

3) Queer as Folk DVD S1-S5.

They have been getting a workout lately as I've been busy lately capping pixs for bitchesofbritin WIP Brian Kinney Eye Candy with a Soul picspam. It's also handy to have when I'm in the mood to watch some eppies. I admit though that Season 5 is just pretty much collecting dust. I'm sorry Ai, but the only way I will ever love that season like I love the others is if you have me hypnotize. I can watch some eppies and others hmmm...no, just no. Besides it's not as pretty IMO as the other DVD boxes).

I also love and I mean love to watch the extras that they offer. The bloopers are so great. Seriously I can't be in a bad mood after watching them.

4)Affirmation....Fan Vid by f1renze. Push comes to shove, I would have to say that this is probably my all time favorite vid. It's the perfect marriage of music and clips. To me it just embodies everything that I feel about the show and what it represents. Never fails, every time I watch it, I just get swept away with memories and emotions.

5)zaipixie graphics. Honestly no one touches me like she does with her graphics. I'm often left breathless with awe as I look at her work.

6) _in_babylon There was a time when this was like my bible for where to go to stay up on the happenings of this fandom. I discovered so many communities and made so many friends through it. It makes me sad that it's not updated very often anymore.

7) Icons....When I first came to LJ many moons ago, I noticed them in people's post and comments. I didn't know what they were or how to even get one. Through trial and error, I finally learned. You know I probably broke every rule that one shouldn't when they join a fandom. Hotlink???? At first I didn't understand what that was, but I'm sure I was guilty of it. Credit???? Again because of ignorance, I was guilty of that. I shudder when I think of all the mistakes I made as I tried to navigate my way through the fandom. But lucky for me, someone was always willing to answer a question or point out my error. And not in a smug or nasty way, but genuinely wanting to help. That is the best part of fandom, that it not only has a soul but a heart too.

8) Fandom Talk....I love it. Where else can I go to use words like OTP, WTF, SUN, or Justinsnoopydance or hairorgasim or any of the seemingly new words that pop up all the time and yet everyone knows exactly what they mean. LOL...

9) What Love Means I still go here when I can't remember the episode where a scene was or if I'm looking for a quote or a recap. It's not updated anymore but in it's day it was an invaluable and much loved resource. Plus it had great links to some of the best writers, vidders, and graphics.

10) Flist....There are times when I feel as the world has just checked out. Whenever that happens, I can come here and find that isn't true at all. I can draw on the endless supply of confidence, counsel, sympathy, help and love that you all have and are always willing to share. Your friendship is just as precious and as real to me as any in my RL. I love you all.
